6.2 Volunteer Opportunities

We are able to make a tremendous impact on the lives of children by supporting the child care programs in Georgia with the energy, time and talents of volunteers. Quality Care for Children offers volunteer opportunities for individuals and corporate groups that range from serving on special event committees or hosting holiday donation drives to helping install organic gardens or playgrounds. With volunteer labor, we can leverage each dollar to provide four dollars of impact. The time and talent of each volunteer empowers us to offer our services with little cost to the child care program.

In March of 2011, Quality Care for Children launched a new corporate volunteer program to engage our corporate partners more meaningfully through hands-on work that supports our mission. Since then, energetic groups from diverse companies such as Deloitte, Starbucks, and SparksGrove have dedicated their talents and resources to help improve quality at child care centers throughout the metropolitan Atlanta area. These rewarding workdays leave the centers with freshly painted spaces or newly appointed playgrounds, while providing the group’s volunteers with lasting team-building effects.

Does such a project sound like something you and your group would like to support? We work with corporations, small businesses, local community groups, faith-based organizations, and civic organizations. Volunteers (age 16 and older) of all skill levels are needed and welcome. Volunteer groups and individuals provide the necessary skills and energy to revitalize our child care programs!

How can you or your group get involved? Simply contact us either by phone 404-479-4205 or email us at volunteer@qualitycareforchildren.org. Contact us with your questions, to learn details of our current projects, or to arrange a work project for your group.

Why Quality Child Care is Key

By Pam Tatum

Georgia has long endured the poor educational achievements that result from a failure to invest in high-quality early care and education for children. The economy is taking its toll on a child care system that needs to be thoroughly revamped for the sake of children, families and even the state’s economic future.
