Standing Strong for Georgia’s Families: Ellyn’s Insights

Dear Friends,

As we continue our work to ensure every child in Georgia has access to quality early learning and care, recent events remind us how fragile that system can be—and how essential our collective advocacy remains.

Across our beloved state, thousands of families and child care programs felt the effects of disruptions in Early Head Start funding and delays in SNAP benefits. These interruptions create uncertainty for parents balancing work and child care, and strain early education providers who serve as lifelines for their communities.

At Quality Care for Children, we stand with families, providers, and partners during challenging times. Within less than 24 hours of learning that more than 500 children in Southeast Georgia suddenly faced the temporary closure of their child care center, our teams mobilized to connect families to essential support, including ourBOOST Scholarship Program, which assists families needing temporary child care during a crisis.

I am deeply grateful for the incredible generosity of our donors, philanthropic partners, and child care providers who stepped forward—some even accepting children at reduced rates—to ensure that children continue to have access to the care and stability they deserve.  Unfortunately, the need is growing every day. With your donation, we can reach more families and ensure every child has a safe, nurturing place to learn and grow, even during times of uncertainty.

Amid these challenges, we also take time to celebrate those who strengthen our mission. We’re deeply grateful for the incredible leadership and service of our outgoing Board Members — Vasanne Tinsley, Jerry Boerner, and Andrew Smith (not pictured).  Jerry, our longest-serving Board Member for over 20 years, along with Vasanne and Andrew, has played a vital role in advancing QCC’s mission.

Finally, we continue to think about how we support families directly at QCC. I encourage you to explore our Georgia Parent Power blog collection, where families can find practical tips, inspiring stories, and upcoming webinars designed to help every family thrive. Together, we’ll keep building a child care system that stands strong for Georgia’s families.

Best,

Ellyn Cochran
